Readers’ comments
Easy to read and yet to the point
I deal with health and safety and leadership issues on a daily basis in my job and am always interested in new views or breaking down contexts that I was previously unaware of. And although I had already been involved in the subject so much, this book quickly showed me new points of view and offered new information for me. Unlike many other authors, Stefan Bartel also manages to write the text so fluently that you enjoy reading it. Almost like a novel. Really good, not just for beginners but also for experts. In addition, employees and managers can feel equally addressed by the information.

Informative and well written
As a child, I was taught that you have to have a certain loyalty and respect for your employer. You can also see the differences between my parents’ and grandparents’ generations. At the same time, you can also see what such loyalty brings: Nothing. Mismanagement has been carried out and who is then allowed to be thrown out the door after a long period of loyal work, to work zero hours or to forgo wages? The stupid work slaves. And that is precisely the reason why, as the book makes clear, 17% of all employees in Germany are highly motivated to plod along to work and are ultimately made fun of in the same way as Schlecker women or Karstadt or Opel employees and the remaining 83% of employees have already mentally retired.
People can no longer identify with their employer. Although some of these companies also have mission statements and corporate cultures, they do little or nothing to develop them or do what they want. The book is informative and well-described, and is not intended to lecture companies or even give them instructions on how to establish such corporate cultures, but rather to show how good the working atmosphere can be when a sensible corporate culture is practiced.
What part do managers play in long or frequent absences? How can this behavior be changed? Duty of care, occupational safety… these are not just nice words. And the book makes this clear in the hope for employees that something will ring a bell with employers…

Cultural change concerns us all
The topic was given the highest priority in our company. In today’s world, especially when you are involved in the mail order and internet business (or rapidly changing sectors), rapid change, adaptability and employee motivation (and of course a sustainable business idea) are important factors for the success of a company.
This book contains much more than just occupational safety. It is sometimes cleansing to zero in on your company or your knowledge as a manager and simply look at, am I dealing with my employees correctly? Is my strategy to motivate them actually motivating, but also how do I react to difficult employees who have built up high absenteeism? The book gives a good view of how to deal effectively with your team.
Summary: It is not wrong to question your own actions, whether as a boss or manager, and to want to improve. Sure, you already know a lot yourself. But sometimes bad behavior has become ingrained in you, so perhaps this book can help you get back on track.

Looking at occupational safety with different eyes
I often like to read specialist books, whether they are directly related to my personal area of work or only partially is irrelevant. No matter what the topic is called, in most cases I can learn a lot from these books. They deal with the topic of occupational safety, which affects every employee.
I have always seen occupational safety as a legal requirement, which has changed after this book. The author conveys the importance of occupational safety in relation to corporate culture and economic success in powerful words.
The book is divided into a total of fourteen chapters with just over 330 pages and thus offers a range of information. The author explains what occupational safety has to do with corporate culture and then explains how the two interact. In the course of the book, there are concrete examples and a variety of methods on the way to a virtually accident-free company. The theses are supported by statistics and diagrams that illustrate the topic. At the end of the book, there is a summary that recalls the most important points before providing some guidelines for practical implementation.

Hello H.Bartel,
As discussed, a little feedback on your book – Kulturwandel – which I received from you at the seminar on 15.11.17. Thank you for that, by the way. I read it with great interest – as I also thought your one-day seminar was great. Confirms my basic attitude – on the subject of occupational safety – implementation and forms of discussion. I try to implement the topic described in the book – in great detail – in a way that can be communicated – adapted – in our department. Of course, I also hope for the credibility of my company, especially when it comes to points where money is involved! I think the book has already – brought me a bit closer to the matter – although I see myself here – also far into the subject. See you soon – you always meet twice!
Thank you and best regards,
Wittmann Willi, Pfleiderer Deutschland GmbH
Hello H.Bartel,
I read your book about 5-6 weeks after the seminar. I think the book is a good addition to the seminar. Reading it brought many topics back to mind, and I revisited many things. I think the book “Kulturwandel” should be required reading for every participant in a seminar on this topic.
Kind regards,
Marian Janoschka, Pfleiderer Neumarkt GmbH
